M for Men, Alphabet Challenge

Hi all , hope you all had a great week. So close to the weekend. Well I have been busy making cards again ( surprise, surprise)
The challenge this week for the Alphabet Challenge Blog is M for Men.
Do you believe, when I was trying to come up with an idea, some idea, anything...nothing. Then all of a sudden I had an ephiphany, he he. Of course couldn' t fine a sentiment to go with my 'theme' so had to make my own on MS Word. So there you have it, rumaged around my old stash and found some paper that look like an old fence, perfect. This is a freebie digi image from Dulemba.  I was also lucky enough to find some ribbon that matched the colours, dry embossed part of the card and here he is. Hope you like him
I am also entering him into the following challenges:

My time to craft# 125: Emboss ( background base card is dry embossed with swiss dots)
Aly's Sunday Challenge# 34 : Man Card
Southern Girls Challenge: Dry Embossing ( Aus)

Aplication for DT call at : Let's Ink It Up

Ahhh, CAS. Just love it. Even though whilst doing this card I had to have a least 3 coffees, LOL.

Isn't she a cutie? I stamped and coloured first, then put her through the die which is a Marianne Creatables.

Ahh, Tilda magnolia, how do I love thee...

This is by far my favourite Tilda stamp, I have done her in so many colour variations it;s not funny.
No matter what you do to her, she just always looks cute.

Hi there, well, gotta be in it to win it. I am trying out for the DT call on the Let's Ink It Up blog.
It;s all about stamping and getting 'inky'.
As much as I love using Digi stamps, I aslo love using
'real' stamps. Even though I always end up with inks where they should not be.
I am very partial to the Tilda stamps and have a new favourite which are the Nellie stamps. Just too cute.
These are only a small selection of my work. I could have added 50 photos, even though I have only been blogging and entering competitions since August last year. I just love. My favourite part is putting together colours you would never (under no circumstances) put next to each other, only to find out they look great. I feel like an interior designer on a mini scale if you know what I mean. I hope you find the right people to be part of your DT. I am currently serving as a DT on the Alphabet Challenge blog and am loving it.
Good Luck
Blessings Hilde

Thursday, 20 January 2011

Hi all. Hope you had a wonderful week! Well things are settling slowly back in. Everyone is well for the moment, Hallelujah!! The school Holidays here in Australia are slowly coming to the end. The end of the month, it's back to school for most of the students, even though some don't go back until first week in February. Our biggest School break is over our Summer, which is over Christmas. Generally 6 weeks.
I am sure lots of Mums will be jumping for joy....LOL. I might be be crying in my Latte, but am sure that I will get over it very quickly, (maybe 5 minutes, he he. ) As my last one will be going off to TAFE, after 2 years of homeschooling. She will be doing year 10 in Tafe, so that should be interesting....I am so used to her being my shadow, that I might be at a loss for a little while.
Helloooo Ironing Board. I always knew there were used for something??? Ironing is the worst household chore for me!! Brrr ! Just get shivers thinking about it. LOL. This is the other side of my room, the never ending room. I am soooo grateful to have it. Now that my two older children are doing their thing, I have a little more room to move.I had some ribbon that didn't fit into any of my contraptions so the door handle on the wardroab does fine.

This photo is a little more up and and to the right of  the room. You can see the slanted roof line to the far right. Yeah, I know. Two Irons, what's the go with that??? What was I thinking? I need to find a better place for them, as they are always blocking my paper stash. Could do with a tidy up I guess. One day......
For now I still know where everything is.
Have fun peaking. Can't wait to have a snoop at your place.
Blessings Hilde
Sorry that my posting is a little late, couldn't really think of what to send you, seeing you are all so wonderfully busy. Had a slow one this week. So hopefully these photos will be of interest.

Challenges: Stamping 411, Prarie Fairy, The Stamp Man, Sweet Stampin, Stamp,Scrap and Doodle

Hi again, I really liked making this card as it is so different and quiet 'manly', if you know what i mean. I had this great photo of a lion, so I printed it off onto some craft card ( my colour ink was on it's last legs, so hence the stripey look). The stripes in the print (accidently) seem to go with the stripey background print in the card I used. I also used ( accidently) a self striped card for the front. So lots of good accidents working together for this one.

Stampin 411 # 186 : Saturday Sketch

Challenges: Colour Create, Moving along with the times, Stampin B's, Karber Weekly, A gem of a challenge

Hi again, I really like the base card for this card. It reminds me of corduroy(showing my age). I have been experimenting with some of my dies. This is a marianne creatables die, I coloured in the image first and then cut it out. I really like the effect it makes. I could have shussed the card up a bit , but really felt to leave it cas, as not to take away from the focus on the image.
The Martha Stewart border punch seems to compliment the die.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Colour Create Challenge Blog # 62 : Pink, Blue, Grey and white/creme
Moving along with the times # 81 : Dreams ( I dream to be able to grow lilies to perfection)

Hi again, here is another card I made with my new Digi from Sugar Nellie. This is Verity.
I enlarged her a little and made her  the 'centre' of attention.
I used a Marianne Createables die for the lovely design. This was actually an experiment that I am quietly please with. I coloured first and then cut out. I am really happy with it. ( which is rare!!)
I coloured her with promarkers.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Dutch Dare #95 : All stitched up ( use real or faux stitching)
Crafty Anne's Challenge Blog #32 : Ring in the new but don't ring out the old

I couldn't resist when I saw these beautiful images on the from Sugarnellie.  You will be seeing more of this young lady name Verity I am sure. I have also blessed myself with the Joy Digi stamp. She is also a cutie. I must admit I am hooked on digi  stamps. They are just so easy and you don't have to worry about inkpads and so on. I just love them, and am finding that I use my 'real' stamps less and less. Shock horror!!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Chi Chi Memories# 23: See sketch ( I tried to upload pic of sketch but just wouldn't let me, no idea why)
Paper Play W 2: Cutie Patootie

Alphabet Challenge : K for keys

Hi all, I am really excited about this. This is my first 'official' entry as on of the Design Team Members of the Alphabet Challenge Blog. This weeks challenge is K for keys.
A new challenge every Friday.
So head on over and check out their blog and why not  enter and have some fun.
Card Recipe:
The Heart is a digi freebie from Torico's Digital Designs which I coloured with Promarkers
The backgroung paper (has a shiny background)  is from my old stash of papers,
layered onto cherry red cardstock
The rose border on the left is a small single digi that I put together to make a border, the digi is from Designed2Delight
The Borders punch is from Martha Stewart (I find these punches are happy to punch out thin card, whereas some of the other brands only want to punch out paper)
1 large and 1 small key charm ( yes, but you have to enlarge photo to see it) which I connected by using a mobile phone embellishment cord
Gold edged red ribbon
Sizzix flourish
layered 3d flower with heart button centre
A printed sentiment using MS Word
My goodness, now I know why I never write out the card recipe.........................did I put all that onto the card? Wow!! Not sure I will be doing this again, LOL

Before: Hi all, hope you all had a wonderful week. Well it's been very wet here and my fellow countrymen in Queensland are copping the rain and floods. A terrible tragedy. So many people dead and missing. Please pray for them.
So whilst I was listening to the latest updates of the floods I got myself busy. This is on the opposite side of where I have my super long desk. It's a pull out sleeper couch, my craftstuff has a habit of 'expanding' if you know what I mean. In the corner near the window you can see some of my synthetic grass mats I sell on ebay.Underneath in the red box is some of my stained glass supplies. Hubby has made me a 'corner' in the shed now for my stained glass stuff..Little does he know once I settle into the 'shed' he can forget about me be happy with just a corner.........When it;s up and running I will take some pics for you to see. That will be soooo fun......

After: Well here is the after shot. A little more tidier and you can even see the couch - OMG!  Looks rather nice, huh?

Before: My son did a room tidy ( yes, miracles do happen, this is proof!) and I ended up with one of his chuck outs, which is a broken computer desk. Wasn't quiet sure at first what to do with it but then the light went on upstairs if you know what I mean. Not that I really needed another desk, but seeing this was only a small one, I could leave my cricut out and didn't always have to pack it away, just have to roll over with my chair from the other side. Oh yeah, some of us have a hard life  .....LOL.

After: Oh look, you can see the cricut machine again.Just underneath there is a pull out bit where the keyboard is ment to go, so I store all the cricut mats there. So works well for me. My intention is to use it more, now that its out. That's the theory anyway.I must say I do love it but don't use it as much  as I should. It's only the simple one, the one that takes 6 inch wide mats. I am very blessed to have it.
Thanks for sticky beeking everyone! Please remember to pray for the flood victims. Blessings Hilde

Floods in Queensland

Dear friends, if you could spare some prayers our way. My fellow countrymen in Queensland Australia are suffering terribly at the moment. Most of Queensland is flooded and it's creeping it's way into NSW.
The devastation is beyond comprehension and we won't know for weeks how bad the damage really is.
The worst is the loss of human live and so many people missing and unaccounted for.
Please pray.
Blessings Hilde

WOYWW - Happy New Year

Hi all!. I really hope everyone had a delicious, wonderful and peaceful entry into the New Year. Another big THANK YOU! again for all your lovely comments. You guys are amazing. My daughter is so well now that she has even gone back to work, even though the Doctors certificate is until the 10th, she decided she was ready. How good is that?
In the first pic you can see my usual mess, I have been inching more and more over to this side of the table for some reason, obviously too messy up the other end, LOL.
I will get around to a big tidy up, one day. Then everyone will get a surprise, most of all me!!

On this pic you an see a bit of my 'system'. I write down on a piece of scrap paper which of the card challenges I am going to enter, and then as I have done them I mark it with a scribble so I am not tempted to do it again.
Here you can see a large and a small die. These are things I don't use as much as I thought I would so am going to sell them on ebay and use the money for something I will (hopefully) use.
Does this just only happen to me? I see something and I MUST have it and when I get it, it's  like......mmmmmmh. Oh well. I am slowly learning. I tend to make cards a certain way, and only dive into my other things when I enter a challenge that requires me to use something different.  That;s why I found the challenges great for me as they have stretched me and pushed me beyond my comfort zone.
I am even tempted to try some water colouring soon, Oh yeah!! Watch this space...Oh yeah, and my latest discovery has been digi papers. How cool are they?
Have fun snoopen everyone, blessings Hilde.
