Challenges: Party Time Tuesday#18,Lexi;sCreations#25,A spoonfull of sugar #27

Hi everyone, thanks for looking and I hope you like my card. I am still getting used to the whole 'colouring' in thing, and am enjoying it. I have purchased a few sets of promarkers and am off and running. I have also (amzingly! how does this happen??) aquired more than one magnolia/tilda stamp.  Ahm. Now I have 4, even though so far I have only been using this one. I must have the 'bug', or whatever it's called. The other amazing thing is Digi Stamps. At first they all just looked liked something that was out of a childs colouring book ( and some do have that look). But after hours and hours of blog surfing I have seen some wonderful creations. So guess what. Now I have a ever growing set of Digi stamps as well. At first I just downloaded all the freebies, and have now been actively buying myself a bunch of Digi stamps as well...!!As if I don't have enough 'real' stamps. Might need to either tidy up my craft room (Nooooooo!!) or get a bigger room....hmmmmm!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Party Time Tuesday # 18: Carrot Cake Colours
Lexi;s Creations # 25: Birthday
A spoonful of Sugar # 27, Let's get punchy

Hope you all have a wonderful day, Blessings Hilde

Hi all, hope you guys are all well. I am enjoying the challenge of challenges, and am now amazed on how to combine different ones and present these with the one card. It's actually quiet fun, and not quiet a stressful as the first couple. I do have to laugh though, I just finished a challenge with these colours and now am doing the same colours again. Just as well a have a little stash of this ribbon, which is absolute perfect for this colour combo. And again had to choose this gorgeous old timber stamp of mine. Goodness knows how old it is now. I had it even before I became interested in stamping....

So this card is for the following challenges:
Lord have Mercy Sketch #97
Passion for Promarkers # 75 : Best Friends
TCP Tuesday #132: Red ,Orange, Pink
Creative Card Crew: Let's punch it ( I used a Martha Stewart border punch, tim holtz ornate)

Challenge: Inspirational Sketches #88

Hi all, Hope you like my interpretation of sketch #88 from Inspirational Card Sketches.
This is the first time I have used and bought a Tilda stamp. I had no idea how many versions of Tilda is out there and how popular she is.
My hardest challenge was to pick one, seeing that they are more expensive than the norm. Cute though.
I am getting used to the 'colouring in for adults' as I put it. Love 'colouring in' when I was a kid, and have now found out it's ok to do it all again as a adult...!!LOL. Love, love, love it.
Have a wonderful week. I used pro markers to colour, and as you can see am still a newbie at the whole shading stuff, but am getting there.
Blessings Hilde

If you have any hints in that area, let me know please. I must say, my one card per challenge is just so much less stressful, lol !!

Challenge: totally gorjuss, pink #52, 1st year anniversary

Hi all,  I thought I might as well enter my pink ladybug into the pink challenge of totally gorjuss, hope I get it in on time.
Totally forgot about it. Hope you like it.This is one of my favourite cards to make, and I have sold many of these lovely lady bug cards. I love plain and simple, as much as I like the other cards around, and I have tried to copy them, mine end up like a collage without a plan, lol. At least with this card you get what you see. I just used a couple of large circle punches to make the body and a small one for the head. So easy. I have also posted instructions of the lady bug on my blog. Think Pink.

How to make a ladybug card - My most popular seller

Well I have had so many requests just recently on this card, that I thought I would share it with all my new blog friends. It's so simple it's not funny, but very effective. This card is for young or old, Birthday or just saying hello. You need  1 large and 1 small circle punch  in black. ( I used  a 2 inch and a 1 inch)
You will also need another large circle in red or whatever colour you want your wings ( 2 inch). Try pink!! I just use a pro marker in black to put on the spots, but also have used black glitz as well. You can jazz it up as much as you want or kis ( keep it simple). I sometimes just draw some antenna on, not even sure if they have any, but looks good, or just leave it off. And here are some finished cards I make.

I won my first Card Challenge

Pear Tree Designs, Good Luck
I won, I won, I won. Well it is my first win, and even though it was a 1 in 5 chance,I still feel kinda special.
I am pretending that it was chosen not randomly selected. LOL. The prize was a $10.00 voucher to spend at the lovely 'CharacterCafe'. They have a lovely selection of digi stamps. Hopefully you will be able to see some card creations of mine using their stamps.

Challenge: the shabby tearoom # 31

Hi all, this was fun to do for me. It really challenged me because I didn't have a pumkin stamp or anything. So what to do. Well I couldn't really think of anything so sketched a couple of pumkins myself and coloured them in with pro markers. Colouring in for grown ups. Awesome. I made the leaves and some extra flowers. I put on as much orange as a dared.
Hope you like, Blessings Hilde

Challenge: Inspirational Card Sketches # 87

Hi friends, hope you are all well and are enjoying the week. Is it just me or do the weeks just seem to fly by? I really liked this sketch, I am really into sketches. I just bought this gorgeous digi stamp from 'Pink Cat Studio'  and the sentiment is from flourishes.I know it's kinda hard to tell, but the base card is a very dark brown, and I kept it in autum colors. Hope you like.

Challenge: Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog # 39

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a wonderful day so far, and a great week. I am still a learner when it comes to taking photo's and running a blog. But I am learning by mistakes..... Hope you like it. The stamps are from Kaisecraft, and has lots of layers.
Love this challenge.

Challenge: TotallyPaperCrafts # 37

Hi there, I took the liberty of making two entries. I love this challenge. Just started to learn to use buttons, but do like the idea of using them on cards. Since I started doing the challenges only a little while ago, I have already learned so much and my cards will never be the same.
The first card with the gerbera is from the free digi stamp site, I love the colours, and used promarkers .
For the sencond card I used embroidery floss as an accent. The tag was purchased and downloaded from Rob Jackson. Hope you like them

Challenge: Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #80

Hi all, I loved colouring this beautiful stamp, and loved the challenge, havn't really use many buttons on my cards yet, but am learning. I used the cute ribbon as my cue for the colours. The stamp is just the cutest and is another one of my old timber stamps. It has a stamp on the side saying: Delafield Stamp Company. I used Pro-Markers to colour and am still learning how to shade with them.
Hope you like. Blessings Hilde

Challenge: Charisma Cardz Chellenge #40

Hi all, I enjoyed 'colouring ' this young lady. I am still new to the whole digi stamps thing, but am getting the hang of it. I fell in love with the lovely ribbon and used that as my colour cue.
Hope you like it.
Blessings Hilde

Challenge: Just Cute Bears Challenge # 37

Hi everyone!
I just love a cute bear and pink gingham. It just seems to go together. You can never have too many pink or blue baby cards around. A lot of my friends had grand babies and most of them girls. Whoot whoot, go the girls. So am stocking up now for the next lot. Might just make a few 'boy' ones just in case.
I have the biggest role of pink gingham ribbon you have ever seen. So any opportunity to use is fun. The teddy bear stamp is very well used and well loved. The stamp is an old timber one and it just has a number and made in the USA. I guess it's that old....No company name. Hope you like it. The card is a standard size, but folded the other way, it's beautiful pink pearl shimmer. Blessings Hilde

Challenge:2S4Y, Kazan's Sketch challenge #63

Hi my lovelies and thanks for looking,
I hope you like my entry. This is my 'attempt' at making one of those folded flowers, it ended up being a lot bigger than planned, but I knew it was perfect for your sketch.
I used embroidery floss for embellishments, as well as a cute pink button, some flowers and there you have it. Just had to add a sentiment. Blessings Hilde

Smocked dresses for my Grand-daughter

Hi friends,

If you've been reading my blog ramblings, then you would read that I have just recently started smocking again. I attended some smocking classes when my daughter was a baby (my stress release). Unfortunately by the time she was 9 she really didn't want to wear any more smocked dresses and was very much into pants and vests, all the horseriding stuff. As she would tell me that it is unpracticle to ride a horse with a smocked dress.....pity, sigh.!!! So I gave up on sewing alltogether for a while. Other than straight sewing for table cloths and curtain for the church and home, that was it. Now my beautiful daughter is 15 and has shown an interest , if only slight, in learning how to sew a pillow case. OMG. Then to top it off, my darling daughter in-law asked if I would make a dedication dress for my grand-daughter who is 8months old now. OOoooooohhhh! I completely forgot how to do anything related to smocking so had to check out youtube and then couldn't find my smocking box, and then didn't have any patterns.......So now fully stocked once again with embroidery floss in every colour, found my smocking thingy, and newly equipped with stacks of the Australian Smocking Magazines, I made just a few little dresses to see how I would go.... So here they are. Love to hear what you think.

Challenge: Die Cut Dreams Christmas Club #37-Glitter Ribbons and Gems

Hi all, hope you like my entry, I had so much fun doing this one. The background is a bit of wrapping I received a while ago. It was around a bunch of flowers believe it or not. I kept it all in the black red and gold. The photo might not be the best, but the gold star is covered in gold kindy glitz. On the left there are 3 gold star brads. Sorry, I will try to improve my photos. I am just so happy I have managed to get this far..
the bow. OMG the bow. I used my new fangdangled gadget from Bow Easy, and it worked a treat. A triple bow no less.
 Hope you like it

Challenge: Pear Tree Designs: Good Luck

Hi there, this is my entry to the Pear Tree Designs challenge: A card with a Good Luck theme.
This is a cute little card, a lovely snail with a jewel centre, coloured in by using pro markers, a bit of glitz and ribbon. All in pinks and greens on cream.
I love this little stamp, so cute. I have been able to use this stamp for so many things. It;'s an old wooden stamp I have had for a while and the orgin has rubbed off, so not sure who;s stamp it is, maybe you can let me know. Hope you like it.
I am into the less is more phase. Wonder how long that will last.....

The Start of my Journey with Breast Cancer

Hi all! I really felt to share my story, I won't write it all down at once, but will share snippets and moments as they come back to me. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Christmas 2004. I pray that if you are reading this, that your faith will increase, and that I have helped you on your journey at least a little.

My story:
I was in an almighty rush and was running late, I had already found my husbands socks for him, my sons bag that suddenly 'dissapeared', put my daughters hair up. All whilst making coffee, getting breakfast ready and quickly putting on a load in the washing machine. A typical day in our house at the time. I was still working part time, 3 days a week as a church sectretary in our church we attended, and my daughters school was (thank heavens) only 5 minutes away from the office. My husband was running late and so it goes.
I put on my bra and it felt like something bit me, ouch, that hurt. I looked at my bra. Stupid thing. I'm not huge but well endowd, and always wear bra's with the wire support. Well the wire support had broken on the left side and I figured that was the problem. I flung it off to the other side of the room, I will clean it up later.
Note to self: Don't buy any more cheapy bras. I got the next bra out of my drawer, and the same thing happened. Not two in a row. Then all of a sudden, I stopped. I really can't tell you how or what made me stop. All of a sudden I was completely calm. Have you ever seen those scenes in the movies where the camera goes right around the person and then zooms in? That is what is was like. Calm, i was looking at myself from the outside somehow. I took my right hand to investigate the pain under my left breast. Just where the wire was, where the pain came from. I touched it gingerly at first, then harder. Ouch. Big OUCH!##@#@#@. Sorry but that is what I was thinking....Then my stomach sank. Somehow I just knew. The colour went out of my face, yet it felt like my face was burning. I could feel the adrenilin kicking in, my heart started to beat a little faster. Just then my husband walked into the bedroom. He looked at me.
"You ok?"
He wasn't expecting me to say no. I am always OK. He realised in an a moment, that something was up. Something big something.
He just stopped an kept looking at me. He knew me well enough to know that I will say what is bothering me sooner or later.
"I've got a lump!" The moment I spoke it out, reality hit me. I choked up, tears welled in my eyes.
"A lump?"
"Yeah, under my left breast, it really hurts, I only just discovered it, because my bra broke.", pointing to the corner of the room where it got flung off to.
My husband swollowed hard, and I could see that he was desperately searching in his mind what to say.
"Just because you found a lump, doesn't necessarily mean........"
"I know"  i couldn't say it either . I couldn't get myself to say the C word.
"Honey, please, make and appointment with the Doctor today, it'll be ok, you'll see"
"Yeah, it'll be ok, I'm sure."
I tried to put the whole thing out of my mind and get on with the day. A good thing about being busy is, that you tend not to dwell on things because you are just too busy being busy. Well I got sooo busy that day that I forgot all about 'it', and didn't make an appointment until the next day. I couldn't get in until the following week, my doctor was always booked out. I preferred a female doctor when it came to my issues, which I had many over the years.
Little did  I know then what was in store for me.......................

Challenge:The Craft Den Anything goes Challenge: Week 18-Going Round in Circles

Hi there, I couldn't think of anythin 'round' at first, and then I remembered something I saw on Youtube a long time ago. The flower is completely made up of individual circles folded and put together to make this lovely flower. So each petal starts it's life as a circle and 8 of them make this circle shaped flower. I used a large square pinkshell shimmer base card, used real lace as my border on the left, I felt it needed something. I decided to leave a sentiment off . Just plain, elegant and simple. The flower tells the story, hope you like it.
He, he. I can just picture all you lovely creative people out there itching to add 'stuff' to the card. Well you are not alone. I am having a hard time leaving it alone myself, LOL.

Card, just saying hello

Hi there! Hope you are all having fun. This was a Challenge set out from the Lord Have Mercy blog.
I really enjoy doing these challenges and I am loving making cards to sketches, this is a really new concept to me, and as you can tell, I am trying to stick to the sketch as best i can, maybe a little to ridget. But looking at some others out there, I think they have used the sketch as a guide only, LOL. Oh, how creative we all are. You gotta laugh, come on.
So here is my effort, hope you like it. I still havn't worked out where the stamp is from, i think mini stamps. It is only a small stamp set. But the birds are just too cute. I coloured them in using pro-markers. The daisy borderpunch is from Martha Stewart, I cut the ovals out using my old creative memories thingy. A shiny black brad is the centre if the flower.
I love this colour combo, I used black, purple and white.
Typical, I am a little slow, still a learner, when I went to post this, the challenge was already finished. Uhh??? I have no idea what I am doing blog wise, but am having fun learning. I do like the sketch though, and had fun doing anyway.

Thrifty tip: Sanding your cards

This is just an easy tip for anyone out there. Being married for 'almost' 30 years, next year is the big (30), I know all about in the good times and in the bad times.........Because my husband has been self employed all through out our marriage, I have learned to be thrifty, because our income was never reliable and it was either flood or famine. We literally live from cheque to cheque.
I must say i am a little over it now though. I am soo ready for hubby to retire, oh wait, does that mean he will be using the computer more?? Either get a another computer or ......he still has a couple more years yet to go.. phew!!
Anyway as I was saying, I know all about how to be thrifty. I wasn't always able to buy every single tool out there for my crafts, and often I find you can come up with an alternative and it's more often than not cheaper.
Stop rambling Hilde and give them the TIP!!
Ok, the tip: I use a 3way finger nail buffer block. Look at the picture to see what I mean. When every you need to smooth the edges, and just take off the uneven cut or jaggered edge, it's perfect. On one side it has a beautiful fine sanding block and it lends itself for sanding card and papers. I have also used it for distressing etc. Give it a go. I think i paid to $2.00 for it and have been using it for ages, even my nails on occassions.

Blog thoughts

Hi everyone! Well what an exciting couple of days I have had. It's Labour day long weekend here in Australia, and it's been raining on most days... It was great for me to try out the whole blog thing. I still havn't
got it right yet. I've managed to link my photo's to the different blogs (now that's amazing right there!), but still managed to stuff up a few along the way, oops. Big sorry to everyone who would be shaking their head right now, ts, ts. I am very proud of myself though, I liked the idea of blogs, but never bothered before because I thought it would be too hard. I would still like to know how to send an email or note back to someone, and how to contact others. So far I have learned by trial and error, and am sure that is how it will continue, unless someone sends me a rescue line??? Anyone??
But I must admit, it has been fun sofar to enter some challenges, it doesn't even matter if I win or not. Who cares. The challenges have actually challenged me in a way that has given me a real kick up the you know what. It has 'made' think outside the box. I sell a lot of cards on ebay to help with my'craft addiction'. I am also homeschooling my teenage daughter ( well, she does it herself mostly). She is in year 9 and someone needs to be there . I have been very blessed on my setup in my craft room come computer room etc. So whilst she is doing her school work, I am making cards or other items.

Challenge: the craft garden October Challenge: pink ribbon, lace or yarn.

Hi all!
I just received these lovely stamps from the Martha Stewart collection and couldn't wait to try them out. I randomly stamped different butterflies for the background on a shimmer pearl cardstock, used real pink lace a border trim, highlighted the pattern with some glitz, added dimensional to the stand alone butterfly which I deliberatly stamped on a different cardstock in a lovely pink chalk ink. (Love chalk inks) . And ofcourse turned it into a Birthday Card. Hope you like it.

Challenge: Everybody-Art-Challenge#110:Friends

Hi all!
I found the cutest stamp, only wish I knew who it's from, I took it out of it pack and now can't remember who it was. Inkadinkadoo?Mini stamps? Please let me know.I embossed the base card with swiss dots, used the Martha Stewart daisly border punch, some pretty pink gingham ribbon, not much colouring to do with this stamp. Used the tetra Pro Markers. Kept the card plain and simple. Apologies for the pics, had to use flash again. The card is a shimmer card and is reflecting. One day I will learn and get it right.
Hope you like it.

Easel Card

Hi there! Hope you like cards as much as me. Doing some of the card challenges in blog land recently, I came across this lovely colour combo from the embellish magazine challenge, which is yellow, black, white and gray.  I instantly fell in love with it and decided to make a (you guessed) another Birthday Card. You can never have too many Birthday Cards. I love making Birthday cards more than anything. Here I just used the embellishments, papers, card and 3d flower. I used a Martha Stewart borderpunch, silver organza ribbon, printed my own birthday sentiment, used a sparkly yellow brad for the centre of the flower. On the inside the story continues. Instead of just providing a space for you to write on , I place another card. A card within the card.

Hope you like it.

Challenge: Flutterby Wednesday #124

Hi again!
Well I just love this challenge, problem is which of my 24  ( I counted) butterfly stamps do I use? It was going to be a butterfly without question. Instead of going the super duper girly way, I chose to go the elegant, less is more style. Hope you like it. The smallest amount of glitz on the body of the butterfly, lots of layers.
The background card is an embossed patterend shimmer card.
